*520  $aTomat er følsom for mange virus og viroider, men det har likevel ikke vært vanlig å finne virus og viroider i norske tomatveksthus de siste ti-årene. Det har nå dukket opp et nytt virus i tomat i Europa som vekker stor bekymring. Det er tomatbrunflekkvirus (tomato brown rugose fruit virus, ToBRFV). Mattilsynet gjennomførte derfor i 2021 og 2022 et kartleggingsprogram for ToBRFV i samarbeid med NIBIO. I 2021, ble det samlet inn 394 prøver (som representerte 3940 individuelle planter) fra i alt 17 gartnerier, hovedsakelig fra Rogaland. Det ble i 2022 samlet inn 150 prøver (som representerte 3000 individuelle planter) fra i alt 7 småplante tomatgartnerier. Det ble ikke påvist ToBRFV i noen av prøvene. Det ble imidlertid funnet ToBRFV i en prøve som ble sendt inn til Planteklinikken fra et mindre gartneri i Vestfold på forsommeren 2021. Tomato is susceptible to many different viruses and viroids. However it has been uncommon to find virus and viroid infections in tomato production greenhouses during the last ten years. Recently, a new virus, tomato brown rugose fruit virus, ToBRFV (genus Tobamovirus ), was observed and outbreaks found in China, Mexico, the USA, and several EPPO countries. The virus causes major concerns for growers of tomato and pepper as it reduces the vigour of the plants, causes yield losses and virus symptoms make the fruits unmarketable. The Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet), in collaboration with NIBIO, has carried out a surveillance program for ToBRFV in commercial tomato greenhouse productions in 2021 and 2022. In 2021 altogether 394 tomato leave samples (representing 3940 individial tomato plants) from 17 tomato growers (mostly located in the Rogaland region) have been collected and tested for ToBRFV with real-time PCR method; 150 tomato leave samples (representing 3000 individial tomato plants) from 7 tomato growers (focusing on small plant production) have been collected and tested for ToBRFV in 2022. None of the tested samples were positive for ToBRFV. In May 2021, a tomato sample with necrosis and ringspot symptoms from a smaller greenhouse production in Vestfold were sendt to NIBIO Plant clinic and tested positive for ToBRFV. These tomato plants were eradicated.
